Food Technology Program
About Our Program :
Our Food Technology program was established in 2006. Student placement is made with a quota of 30 people.
With 4 academic staff, we try to provide our students with education at a level that will compete with other universities in the national and international arena by using all the opportunities of modern education.
We have a food laboratory that our students can benefit from.
The duration of education in the program is 2 years. Our students graduate with 120 ECTS credits at the end of 2 years. The program offers theoretical and practical, compulsory and elective vocational courses.
Food Technology Area :
The food technology area is a branch of technology that processes raw materials based on agriculture and animal husbandry by applying modern technologies and produces food products suitable for consumption and offers them for human nutrition by performing food control services in terms of sensory, physical, chemical and microbiological aspects in order to ensure safe food production.

Food Technician:
A secondary professional who ensures that food products are produced, packaged, stored and delivered to the consumer in accordance with health conditions, and who performs and interprets chemical and microbiological analyses.
Food Technician Assignments:
- Uses various techniques in the processing of food products.
- Takes samples from foods and food additives to control the health and quality of foods. Performs sensory, physical, chemical and microbiological analyses using different methods in the laboratory. Evaluates the results, prepares reports and reports them to the relevant parties.
- Applies hygiene and cleaning rules in businesses. Controls food hygiene and sanitation.
- Prevents the introduction of products of poor quality and unhealthy to the market.
- Ensures that the produced foods are packaged and stored appropriately.
- Ensures that quality and standard products are produced.
- Follows the latest technologies used in food production.
- Ensures communication between the supervisor and the people he/she is responsible for in the unit he/she works.
Working Environment and Conditions:
Food technicians work in food manufacturing factories and laboratories. The laboratory environment is clean, but manufacturing facilities can be hot, humid and smelly. They communicate with professional staff, food engineers, chemical engineers, biologists and veterinarians.
Fields of Work and Job Opportunities:
Our program graduates are employed as professionals in relevant public institutions and organizations (Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Control Laboratories, Hygiene Institute, Provincial Health Directorates, Municipalities, etc. many public institutions) and all private sector organizations that carry out food production.
Entry Requirements for Vocational Education:
Students are placed according to their ÖSYM scores. For this, candidates must take the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) conducted by the ÖSYM Presidency and receive a sufficient “TYT” score.
Duration and Content of Education:
In Food Technology programs, 2-year education is provided at the associate degree level, consisting of 4 semesters.
During the education period; General Chemistry, Food Chemistry, General Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Food Processing Techniques, Oil - Milk - Meat - Fruit Vegetable and Cereal Technology, Food Analysis and Control are given courses.
Undergraduate Programs That Can Be Transferred With DGS:
Those who successfully complete the Food Technology associate degree program can vertically transfer to the "Nutrition and Dietetics", "Food Engineering", "Agricultural Engineering" and "Chemistry" undergraduate programs if they are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam conducted by ÖSYM.
