About Our Program
The Property Protection and Security Department - Occupational Health and Safety program started its educational activities by accepting its first students in 2019. There are 3 academic staff in our program and the number of active students is 67. The education period in the program is 2 years. Students who graduate from the program receive the title of occupational health and safety technician.
Occupational Health and Safety
The concept of occupational health and safety is encountered in every field where a job is carried out. Creating a healthy working environment for employees, protecting employees from adverse conditions that may arise from the work carried out, minimizing and completely eliminating risks and dangers are among the main goals of occupational health and safety.
The Purpose of Occupational Health and Safety
The purpose of Occupational Health and Safety is to minimize the possibility of a work accident due to the work carried out and to take measures to eliminate health problems and occupational diseases that may occur in the work environment.
Duties of Occupational Health and Safety Technicians
- Provide health and safety training to employees
- Determine physical, chemical and biological risks
- Set up and calibrate laboratory equipment
- Check compliance of workplace equipment with safety standards
- Ensure correct use of personal protective equipment such as helmets, masks, and goggles
- Check physician reports and determine whether illnesses are work-related
Working environment and conditions
Occupational health and safety technicians can find employment opportunities in all institutions, organizations and businesses. They can also become a Class C occupational safety specialist by completing their training.
Undergraduate Programs That Can Be Transferred With DGS
Students who graduate from our program can transfer to labor economics and industrial relations, economics, public administration, finance, international relations, business, public relations and advertising departments by taking the vertical transfer exam.
